X to enhance financial information with Smart Cashtags that can identify stocks and contracts
Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, said that financial-related information has a major influence on X, and revealed that the company is developing a new feature called “Smart Cashtags.”
He explained that X is an important source of financial news, and that hundreds of billions of dollars are being deployed based on what users read on X.
X currently plans to introduce Smart Cashtags as a mechanism that, when handling tickers in posts (e.g., symbols like $BTC), will allow users to specify more accurately which asset or smart contract is being referred to.
When you tap a Smart Cashtag in the timeline, you can view the target asset’s real-time price and mentions of that asset on X.
Bier said he aims to iterate while gathering feedback ahead of Smart Cashtags’ public release next month.
