# X releases a new Photo Editor on iOS, with support for Grok-powered editing and blurring

X (Twitter) has released a new Photo Editor for its iOS app.

In addition to drawing and adding text, the new Photo Editor adds word-based image editing powered by the generative AI "Grok" and a feature for applying a mosaic blur to parts of an image.

## A new Photo Editor has been added to the iOS X app

Nikita Bier, X's head of product, announced that a new Photo Editor has been released for the X iOS app.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-dnt="true" data-theme="dark"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Ladies and gentlemen, we&#39;re launching a brand new Photo Editor in our post composer.<br><br>It has long-overdue features like drawing &amp; text. But we also included special add-ons that are unique to X:<br><br>• Edit with words, powered by Grok <br>• Add a blur to redact parts of the photo… <a href="https://t.co/38Zaw8b5jl">pic.twitter.com/38Zaw8b5jl</a></p>&mdash; Nikita Bier (@nikitabier) <a href="https://twitter.com/nikitabier/status/2041594683072413883?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 7, 2026</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

According to Bier, in addition to long-awaited features such as drawing and adding text, the new Photo Editor also offers features unique to X, including image editing with Grok and a mosaic feature.

Grok-powered image editing uses the generative AI "Grok" developed by xAI, X's parent company, allowing users to apply edits by describing in words what changes they want to make to an image.

Previously, if users wanted to hide part of an image, it was common to cover it with a sticker or use an external image editing tool, but because the new Photo Editor includes a mosaic feature, it has become easier to hide parts of an image.

With this Photo Editor update, image editing within the X app, which had previously focused mainly on cropping and sticker-based edits, has been enhanced, allowing more editing to be completed within the app.

X's new Photo Editor is currently available for iOS, and is scheduled to be released for Android in the near future.

Recently, X has also implemented a feature that automatically applies labels to some images that were generated or edited using generative AI.
