X launches Cashtags, which allow users to check stock prices and trade; partners with a brokerage in Canada

Nikita Bier, X's head of product, announced that X introduces "Cashtags," which connect posts about stocks and crypto assets with real-time financial data, in its iOS app in the United States and Canada.
He revealed in January of this year that the company was developing Cashtags, and they have now begun rolling them out to some users.
Bier said that X has "always been the best source of financial news for traders and investors."
He emphasized the importance of introducing Cashtags to X, saying that billions of dollars are moved every day based on information on the timeline.
With the newly introduced Cashtags, when users search for or try to post a cashtag or contract address, the relevant stock or crypto asset token is automatically suggested.
In addition, by tapping a cashtag in a post, users can view posts mentioning that cashtag and a price chart without leaving X.
According to Bier, this mechanism will ensure that users can reliably reach "the chatter for the right stock or token."
He also said that the future vision for Cashtags goes beyond simply displaying charts, and that because content on X has value and leads to action, trading should be frictionless.
As a first step toward that goal, in Canada X is partnering on a trial basis with the brokerage Wealthsimple, allowing users in the country to trade seamlessly from X using a button displayed on cashtags.
Cashtags will first be made available to iOS users in the United States and Canada, and are scheduled to be rolled out globally soon, including on the web and Android.
𝕏 has always been the best source of financial news for traders and investors. Billions of dollars are allocated every day based on what people read on Timeline.

I've been using JavaScript more than my native language since birth. I am nowhere and everywhere on the internet.
I build web apps and browser extensions in TypeScript as a web frontend programmer. I released Shadowban Scanner, a tool that detects shadowbans on X, and Restore Link Card, a tool that brings back link cards. Media outlets in Japan and abroad covered both tools. For iGEM 2023, I built the Wiki for Team Japan-United and helped the team win the Grand Prize. On my blog, I cover news about X and social media, test and troubleshoot bugs, and share frontend development insights.
