# X’s bug reporting community is being shut down. Where should you report X bugs now?

X has announced that it will discontinue Communities, and as a result, its official community for reporting bugs and other issues will no longer be available either.

In this article, I explain what is happening with X’s official bug reporting community and where users may be able to report issues going forward.

## X’s official bug reporting community is being discontinued

X has announced that it will shut down Communities on May 30 and is recommending XChat group chats as an alternative.

X currently has an official community called “[X Bugs and Feedback](https://x.com/i/communities/1671329435717607424),” which has about 77,000 members and serves as a place where users can report bugs and technical issues.

This community has functioned as a central place for information about problems on X. It has allowed users to check whether an issue affecting their own environment is also occurring for others, and when it catches the attention of X employees, those bugs have often gone on to be fixed.

That community, however, will naturally also be affected by the shutdown of Communities.

Following the announcement, Paul Spivak, a moderator of X Bugs and Feedback, said that “[This community will not be continuing as a group chat](https://x.com/paulspivak_/status/2047049576369266706),” indicating that the bug reporting community will be discontinued.

The future of the Japanese-language version, “[X・バグ報告・ご要望](https://x.com/i/communities/1841382313667723737),” remains unclear. However, since the English-language community is being shut down and will not move to group chat, there is a real possibility that the Japanese bug reporting community will also be discontinued.

Even if it were moved to group chat, that still would not be a practical replacement. Group chats are currently capped at 350 participants, with that limit expected to expand to 1,000 within a few weeks, which is nowhere near enough to replace a community with 77,000 members.

The Japanese-language bug reporting community also has 1,340 participants, which again is too many for a group chat to accommodate.

## Where should users report X bugs and issues from now on?

With the shutdown of X’s bug reporting community, the platform will effectively lose its official place for reporting bugs.

X’s Help Center contact pages still let users reach out about things like account access problems and impersonation, but they do not provide a way to report bugs.

One alternative is to contact X employees directly.

Some X employees actively share bugs internally when they are reported via mentions to their personal X accounts, so mentioning those accounts may be one practical option.

That said, this is not an official channel, so users should be careful not to be intrusive.
