The Paid Partnerships Policy on X states that if you promote products or services in exchange for compensation or incentives, you must turn on the "Paid partnership" label.

Posts that are part of a Paid Partnership published as an organic Post must have the “Paid Partnership” disclosure on. You can access this in the Content Disclosure settings when creating your post.

In Japan and some other countries, there are regulations that require content containing such paid partnerships to clearly state that fact.

The "Paid partnership" label must be set in cases such as when you receive products from a company, when you post in exchange for incentives such as money from a company, or when your post includes affiliate links.

Because this label is set by the content author themselves, strictly speaking, the absence of a label does not necessarily mean the post contains no paid promotion at all, and conversely, the presence of a label does not necessarily mean the post actually contains paid promotion.

However, since X's rules require posts that include paid promotion to be given the "Paid partnership" label, in most cases it is fine to assume that a labeled post contains paid promotion.
