X search Latest tab not showing posts from the last 7 days: how to fix it

Since around early April 2026, a behavior has been observed on X (Twitter) in which, for some keywords, recent posts do not appear in the search results [Latest] tab, and only posts older than 7 days are shown.

This issue does not occur for all search keywords, and there are also keywords for which the latest posts are displayed normally.

In the search results [Latest] tab for some keywords, the latest posts do not appear

Since around early April 2026, for some search results on X, even when the [Latest] tab is selected, posts from the last 7 days are not shown, and only posts older than 7 days appear.

The issue does not occur for all search keywords; there are keywords for which the latest posts are displayed normally, and there are also keywords for which posts from the last 7 days do not appear.

For search keywords where posts from before the last 7 days are not shown, if you add the since: operator to narrow the results to posts from within the last 7 days, the search results in the [Latest] tab become 0.

As far as I confirmed, for search keywords affected by this issue, the same search results appeared regardless of whether the search was performed on the web, the Android X app, or the Android X Lite app.

Recently, search-related bugs have been occurring persistently on X, and since around late February there have been reports of issues such as intended search results not appearing, exact match searches using double quotation marks being unavailable, and unrelated posts being mixed into the [Latest] tab.

Around the time these search-related issues began, Nikita Bier, X's Head of Product, posted that X's search function had been migrated to a new system.

Because of this, it is possible that X is experiencing issues related to the new search system.

What is the workaround?

This issue affects only the search results [Latest] tab, and the [Top] tab is not affected.

Therefore, if you want to check recent posts for a search keyword affected by the issue where posts from the last 7 days do not appear in the [Latest] tab, you can display recent posts by using the [Top] tab instead of the [Latest] tab.

Also, by using the since: operator to specify a date within the last 7 days, you can make only posts from within the last 7 days appear in the [Top] tab.

For example, if today's date is April 13, you should add a space and since:2026-04-06 to the end of the search keyword.

The [Top] tab will not necessarily display all posts, but until the issue is fixed, using the since: operator and the [Top] tab is recommended as a workaround.

Conclusion

A bug is occurring in some search results on X where, even when the [Latest] tab is selected, posts from the last 7 days do not appear.

There is no complete fix, but by using the since: operator and the [Top] tab, you can display recent posts to some extent.

I've been using JavaScript more than my native language since birth. I am nowhere and everywhere on the internet.

I build web apps and browser extensions in TypeScript as a web frontend programmer. I released Shadowban Scanner, a tool that detects shadowbans on X, and Restore Link Card, a tool that brings back link cards. Media outlets in Japan and abroad covered both tools. For iGEM 2023, I built the Wiki for Team Japan-United and helped the team win the Grand Prize. On my blog, I cover news about X and social media, test and troubleshoot bugs, and share frontend development insights.
