What is Brave Origin? Explaining the differences from the standard version of Brave, its price, and features
Bravc Software, which develops the browser "Brave" equipped with an ad blocker and other features, has started offering "Brave Origin", a minimal paid version of the browser.
Brave Origin is a version of Brave that retains Brave's ad blocking and privacy protection features while reducing features such as the Leo AI, Wallet, Rewards, and VPN.
The existing Brave browser is not becoming paid, and it will continue to be provided for free.

What is Brave Origin?
Brave Origin is a paid minimal version of Brave in which the features included to sustain Brave's business have been disabled.
While maintaining Brave's core functions and features such as ad blocking, privacy protection, and regular updates, it is designed so that many other features can be disabled.
The standard free version of Brave will continue to be available as before, and Brave Origin is an option for those who want to use only Brave's core features or who want to support the project financially.
At this time, it is being provided as a Nightly version, so caution is required because bugs and other issues may occur.
Differences from the standard version of Brave
The standard version of Brave includes not only features such as ad blocking and privacy protection, but also various features such as the Leo AI, Rewards and Wallet for obtaining and managing crypto assets, VPN, and News.
However, if all you need is to use ad blocking and privacy protection features, these additional features in Brave are unnecessary.
In Brave Origin, these features are either removed or turned off by default.
You can continue to use ad and tracker protection through Brave Shields, security updates, and privacy protection as before.
In addition, statistical features such as crash logs are also affected.
Two types of Brave Origin
Brave Origin comes in two types: a standalone version and an upgrade version.
The standalone version installs Brave Origin as a separate app that is different from the standard Brave browser.
In the standalone version of Brave Origin, the applicable features are removed at the build stage, and in principle, new features added to the standard version of Brave in the future will also not be added to the standalone version of Brave Origin.
In the upgrade version of Brave Origin, a settings panel for Origin is added to the standard version of Brave you are currently using.
The applicable features are turned off by default, but they can be turned on as needed.
Brave Origin is available in both upgrade and standalone versions on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and on Android and iOS, the upgrade version is available in version 1.91.x and later.
Basically paid, but free on Linux
Brave Origin is offered as a one-time purchase for $59.99 rather than a subscription, and with a single purchase, it can be activated up to 10 times, regardless of whether it is the standalone version or the upgrade version.
In the future, the company also plans to offer a monthly paid subscription for the upgrade version.
In addition, Linux users can use Brave Origin for free without purchasing a license.
How to use Brave Origin
If you want to use Brave Origin on desktop as the standalone version, download and install Brave Origin from the official website, then either enter your purchased ID or proceed with the purchase process.
If you are using Linux, a button will be displayed that lets you skip purchasing an ID and use it for free.
If you want to use it by upgrading the standard version of Brave, you can purchase or authenticate Brave Origin from System in the settings screen.
In the case of Android and iOS, you can purchase or authenticate Brave Origin from within Settings.
Summary
Brave Origin released by Brave Software is a lightweight version that retains Brave's ad blocker and privacy protection features while removing non-core features.
Brave Origin is paid, but the existing version of Brave will continue to be available for free.
