X launches rocket animation for SpaceX IPO likes and turns $SPCX into a smart cashtag

X now displays SpaceX’s ticker, “$SPCX,” as a smart cashtag to mark the company’s IPO.
When you like a post that contains the “$SPCX” cashtag or the word “SpaceX,” X also plays a special animation of a rocket launching.

X turns “$SPCX” into a smart cashtag
In January 2026, X announced plans to develop smart cashtags that link tickers in posts to specific stocks, cryptocurrencies, and smart contracts.
In April, X launched smart cashtags in its iOS app in the US and Canada, allowing users to view price charts and related posts from a cashtag.
Since June 12, X has recognized SpaceX’s ticker, “$SPCX,” as a smart cashtag.
SpaceX plans to list its Class A common stock on Nasdaq under the ticker “SPCX.” The company set its public offering price at $135 per share on June 11, 2026, US time, and plans to begin trading on June 12.
Tapping $SPCX in a post opens SpaceX’s stock price, chart, and related posts. However, I could not view the chart because X displayed the error message, “There was a problem loading the chart data. Please try again later.”

Liking a post also launches a rocket
X now plays a rocket-launch animation when you press the like button on a post containing terms such as “SpaceX” or “#SpaceX.”
X ran a similar rocket animation in February this year, but I found slight differences between the current version and the previous one.

You can view the rocket animation by following these steps.
Open a post that contains “SpaceX,” “#SpaceX,” or a similar term
Click the like button
The rocket animation plays
The current rocket animation resembles Branded Likes, an advertising feature that X offers.
Branded Likes lets advertisers replace the standard animation that appears when users like a post containing a specific hashtag with a custom animation.
SpaceX’s implementation differs from Branded Likes because the animation also plays when a post contains only the text “SpaceX,” without a hashtag.
What does this mean
X combines the $SPCX smart cashtag with the rocket animation to guide users from conversations about SpaceX to stock-price information.
The rocket animation encourages users to react to and publish posts containing the word “SpaceX,” while the smart cashtag connects that interest to information about SpaceX’s IPO and stock price.
With past Branded Likes campaigns, advertisers paid to promote a topic for a limited period. In this case, X has repurposed the same mechanism to promote the listing of SpaceX, a company in the same corporate group, on its own platform.
SpaceX has merged with xAI, and X, which had operated as an xAI subsidiary, now sits under SpaceX.
