A new Photo Editor has been added to the iOS X app

Nikita Bier, X's head of product, announced that a new Photo Editor has been released for the X iOS app.

According to Bier, in addition to long-awaited features such as drawing and adding text, the new Photo Editor also offers features unique to X, including image editing with Grok and a mosaic feature.

Grok-powered image editing uses the generative AI "Grok" developed by xAI, X's parent company, allowing users to apply edits by describing in words what changes they want to make to an image.

Misuse of Grok image editing on X is surging: Musk warns about illegal content, including cooperation with authorities
On X (Twitter), there has been a string of cases in which third parties use xAI’s AI “Grok,” which is integrated into the platform, to alter other people’s images into sexual or otherwise inappropriate content. In response, Elon Musk and X’s official account warned that creating illegal content using Grok will lead to the same consequences as uploading illegal content.

Previously, if users wanted to hide part of an image, it was common to cover it with a sticker or use an external image editing tool, but because the new Photo Editor includes a mosaic feature, it has become easier to hide parts of an image.

With this Photo Editor update, image editing within the X app, which had previously focused mainly on cropping and sticker-based edits, has been enhanced, allowing more editing to be completed within the app.

X's new Photo Editor is currently available for iOS, and is scheduled to be released for Android in the near future.

Recently, X has also implemented a feature that automatically applies labels to some images that were generated or edited using generative AI.
