When the bug occurs, the app stops responding to touch input, and you need to reopen the X app.

At 4:45 p.m. JST on June 13, xAI’s Yuki Arano posted about the issue and wrote, “Fixed.”

In a later post on June 16, Arano said the team did not get the fix into version 12.0, which shipped on June 15, and that X will include it in the next update.

Until X ships the fixed version, I recommend avoiding hashtags in the X app for iPad.

When you want to check posts for a hashtag, you can search on the web version of X or enter the hashtag into the search field by hand.

My analysis

X engineers recently changed the iPad app so that tapping a hashtag opens a modal, and that change may have caused the freeze.

The X team appears to have found the cause and fixed it, so you should wait for the next app update.

Once Apple makes the update after version 12.0 available on the App Store, I recommend updating the app.
