Nikita Bier, X's head of product, posted on his X account that they are starting an iOS test to let followers easily react to the original post while viewing a link.

Bier referenced complaints that posts with links get lower reach, stating this is because the browser covers the post, causing users to forget to like or reply to the original post.

As a result, X cannot obtain clear signals about whether the content is good.

In the new test, to get better signals, the original post will remain visible in a collapsed state at the bottom of the screen while viewing the link, allowing you to react to the post while reading the link.

Bier also said in replies to other users that posts with links are not being deboosted, rejecting the notion that linked posts are penalized.

For details, see this article.

Bier said, "the post should stand alone as great content so write a solid caption" emphasizing that captions remain important even as the new test begins.

I've been using JavaScript more than my native language since birth. I am nowhere and everywhere on the internet.

I build web apps and browser extensions in TypeScript as a web frontend programmer. I released Shadowban Scanner, a tool that detects shadowbans on X, and Restore Link Card, a tool that brings back link cards. Media outlets in Japan and abroad covered both tools. For iGEM 2023, I built the Wiki for Team Japan-United and helped the team win the Grand Prize. On my blog, I cover news about X and social media, test and troubleshoot bugs, and share frontend development insights.
