X Pro changed to Premium+ only and the price increased by about 7 times, with more powerful features planned for release

X Pro (formerly TweetDeck), a tool for X heavy users that has automatic timeline refresh and auto-scroll features, can no longer be used unless you are on the highest-tier Premium+ plan of X's paid subscription service, X Premium.
Until now, it could also be used on the mid-tier Premium plan, so this is effectively a price increase of about 6.6 times.

X Pro is now limited to Premium Plus
X Pro (formerly TweetDeck) is a tool for X heavy users, and it has automatic timeline refresh and auto-scroll features.
On regular X, you need to scroll the timeline yourself and refresh it yourself.
With X Pro, the timeline scrolls automatically and is designed so that the latest posts are always displayed, making it convenient for heavy users who want to check the latest timeline while doing other work.
TweetDeck was originally available for free, but after Elon Musk acquired X, it was replaced by the paid X Pro.
After becoming X Pro, it could only be used by users on the Premium plan or higher of X's paid subscription service, X Premium.
However, from March 27 (JST), using X Pro now requires the highest-tier Premium+ plan of X Premium or higher.
When I open X Pro with my account, which is subscribed to the Premium plan, the following message now appears: "As of Mar 26, 2026, X Pro is only accessible on the X Premium+ plan and above. Please upgrade your plan to use X Pro."

At the time of writing, if you subscribe on a monthly basis from the X web client in Japan, the Premium plan costs 918 yen per month, while the Premium+ plan costs 6,080 yen per month, meaning it has effectively become about 6.6 times more expensive.
Even more powerful features are planned for release within 1 to 2 weeks
Nikita Bier, X's head of product, replied to a post mentioning that X Pro had become limited to Premium+ users, saying that a feature far more powerful than X Pro would be released within 1 to 2 weeks.
He also said that he intends to keep X Pro around only for people with very specific workflows who absolutely need it.
At this point, it is not known exactly what kind of new features X plans to release.
Last week, Elon Musk said that a major update to the AI-based recommendation algorithm would be rolled out next week (that is, this week), and would also be released as open source.
In addition, Aaron, an analyst at MacRumors, expressed the view that X is implementing a history feature in its iOS app so users will be able to check videos and articles they previously viewed.
In the past, unauthorized use was cracked down on
After TweetDeck was replaced by X Pro and made paid, an unofficial extension called "OldTweetDeck" was released that lets even free accounts use TweetDeck by using the previous TweetDeck code.
However, perhaps because this extension provides functionality almost equivalent to X Pro, which is originally only available to paid users, there were cases last November in which the accounts of OldTweetDeck users were suspended one after another.

Regarding X Pro becoming limited to Premium+ users, OldTweetDeck developer dimden said that it would not be affected.
However, as mentioned above, OldTweetDeck allows accounts that are not originally supposed to be able to use X Pro to use almost the same features without authorization, and because there is also a risk of the account being suspended, I do not recommend it.
Conclusion
X Pro can no longer be used unless you are on the highest-tier Premium+ plan of X's paid subscription service, X Premium.
Until now, it could also be used on the mid-tier Premium plan, so this is effectively a price increase of about 6.6 times.
Nikita Bier, X's head of product, says the company plans to release a feature more powerful than X Pro within 1 to 2 weeks.

I build web apps and browser extensions in TypeScript as a web frontend programmer.
